Everything is delivered by email
Corelink delivers software licences electronically. There is no physical shipment, no disc and no packaging, and nothing arrives by post. Licences are sent to the email address given on your order, so it is worth giving us an address that is monitored by somebody who will still be at the company next year — a shared mailbox is usually better than an individual’s.
What arrives
A licence delivery email contains, depending on the product:
- the licence key or activation code
- the registered licence holder, seat count and term dates
- sign-in details or an invitation link for the publisher’s administration console
- a link to the publisher’s own installation and deployment documentation
- your order reference
Keep the email. Publishers reissue keys, but doing so takes time and usually requires the licence holder rather than the reseller to ask.
How long it takes
Most business licences are issued by the distributor as soon as an order is processed, and we forward them as soon as they reach us. Some products — usually those requiring a publisher-side account to be created, or a licence to be migrated onto an existing account — take longer, because the publisher has to complete a step that neither we nor the distributor control.
Where a product is known to be slower, we tell you before you order rather than after. If a delivery is going to be delayed, we will tell you that too.
Orders are processed during business hours. An order placed outside those hours is processed on the next business day.
If it has not arrived
Check the spam or quarantine folder first. Licence emails contain keys and links, which is exactly the shape of message that filtering systems hold back. This accounts for most missing deliveries.
If it is not there, email us with your order reference. We can resend to the same address, send to a different address, or — where a publisher-side step has stalled — chase the distributor. Tell us as soon as you notice, because a delivery problem is easier to unpick in the same week than a month later.
Activation
Activation is carried out by you or by whoever manages your machines, using the publisher’s own instructions. Broadly, business products are activated by signing in to the publisher’s console, adding the licence, and deploying the software to each device from there. Consumer products are activated by entering the key in the installed application.
We do not install, configure or deploy software on your systems, and we do not connect to your machines. If you would like to understand how much work deployment involves before you buy, ask us during the quote and we will describe it honestly.
Renewals
Renewal licences are delivered the same way. Where a renewal extends an existing term, the extension is normally applied to the existing licence record rather than arriving as a new key. We confirm which of the two applies to your product when we quote it.
Expired and lapsed licences
If a licence has already expired, renewing it may or may not restore the original term dates, depending on the publisher’s rules and how long ago it lapsed. This is a question we can answer for a specific product, and it is a good reason to raise a renewal before the expiry date rather than after it.
